Foundation Awards

What is the PEI Foundation for People with Disabilities?

The Foundation is a non-profit corporation established by ResourceAbilities in 1998 and is run by an elected six-person board. Bequests and donations are invested to provide an income for the Foundation.

Objectives of the Foundation and its programs include:

Promotion of independence and equality for people with disabilities in post-secondary education

Increasing the participation and inclusion of children with disabilities in Island life

What is the Foundation Award?

Six Foundation Awards, valued at up to $500 each, can be awarded annually towards costs for items approved by the Foundation’s Board. Deadline: April 15th of each year.

Criteria:

Applicants must have a permanent disability

Be aged 19 or under at the time of application

Be a permanent resident of PEI

Application forms must be accompanied by two reference letters

Successful applicants for Foundation Awards may re-apply after three years

Alice & Roy Bruce Memorial Scholarship

What is the Alice & Roy Bruce Memorial Scholarship?

Four scholarships, valued at up to $500 each, can be awarded annually towards the cost of post-secondary education at a recognized educational institution. Deadline: June 30th of each year.

Applicants must have a permanent disability

Be a permanent resident of PEI

Application forms must be accompanied by two reference letters from the most recent educational institution/school attended

Proof of acceptance at the post-secondary institution

Past successful applicants for scholarships may not be considered in subsequent years unless there are no sufficient qualified applicants
